 How Solar Electric Systems Work

Solar Panels – Solar Panels convert sunlight into electricity. In general, solar panels for residential and commercial applications will produce between 170-240watts per panels. Solar panels produce DC power that will be converted to AC power that can be used in your home.

Inverter – The inverter will convert the DC electricity produced at the solar panels into AC electricity that can be used in your home. 2 types of inverters are most widely used in residential and commercial applications. Most common is a string inverter.

This is a single inverter that all of the panels connect in to. The second type are micro inverters. Each panel gets its own micro inverter mounted on the back of the panel.
